Physical Activity

Physical Activity and Health

Regular physical activity is an important part of health and wellbeing. Based on the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate exercise or 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous exercise each week is recommended to reduce health risks in adults.

If you have a chronic health condition, such as arthritis, diabetes or heart disease, talk with your doctor to find out if you have any limits to being active. If your condition stops you from meeting the minimum Physical Activity Guidelines, work with your doctor to come up with a physical activity plan that can meet your specific needs and abilities. What’s important is that you are staying active.
